ARRINGTON - Nancy Gilligan Driscoll, 73, of Arlington, Mass. and Barrington, beloved wife of John T. Driscoll, passed away in Barrington on Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2020 surrounded by her loving family. Nancy had fought bravely but ultimately succumbed to cancer.
Nancy was born in Cambridge, Mass. to James H. and Ethel E. (McKenna) Gilligan on June 29, 1947. She attended schools in Watertown, Mass.; Agassiz Grammar and Cambridge High and Latin Schools in Cambridge, Mass.; and graduated from Arlington High School in 1965. Nancy received her bachelor's degree from Salem State College in 1969, and that is where she met her lifelong love and husband.
Nancy and John were married on May 16, 1970, and enjoyed 50 wonderful years together. They shared homes in Arlington, Mass. and Barrington, ultimately retiring to the Barrington lake house.
Nancy was a longtime employee of AI Corp, Trinzic, and ultimately Computer Associates from where she retired in 2012.
After retirement, Nancy volunteered at the Barrington Public Library, and as a driver for the non-profit ReadyRides out of Northwood.
Nancy was predeceased by her parents. She is survived by her loving husband, John T. Driscoll; her beloved sister and best friend Claire Gilligan Tremblay and husband John of Smithfield, N.C.; her loving brother James H. Gilligan of Dedham, Mass.; her loving in-laws, brother-in-law Raymond Driscoll (Betsey) of Dracut, Mass.; sister-in-law Ursula Driscoll of Lynn, Mass.; sister-in-law Marcia Foley (Stephen) of Killington, Vt. She is also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews, and several great nieces and nephews.
Nancy had several lifelong friends from grammar school and college who loved her dearly as she has always been a loyal and wonderful friend.
Nancy will be sorely missed by her family and friends; she has left a hole in our hearts.
