New, current cases spike but only one new hospitalization

CONCORD - New and current cases of COVID-19 both increased dramatically on Thursday, but the hospitalization rate stayed steady as health officials announced three more deaths, including a older Strafford County man.

The 104 new cases comprise 41 percent men and 59 percent women. One was under 18. Another surprising data point was only one of the 130 required hospitalization, the lowest single hospitalization number in several weeks.

The new cases reside in Rockingham (30), Hillsborough County other than Manchester and Nashua (24), Merrimack (7), Strafford (3), Belknap (1), Carroll (1), Grafton (1), and Sullivan (1) counties, and in the cities of Manchester (28) and Nashua (6). The county of residence is being determined for two new case.

DHHS also announced three additional deaths related to COVID-19, including a Hillsborough County woman 60 or older, a Rockingham County man 60 years or older and a Strafford County man 60 or older

In Maine, the total cases rose to 1,330, with 1,231 cases confirmed. Maine DHHS also lists cases as those who have been in contact with someone confirmed to have the disease who show symptoms among other variables.

Currently Maine has 39 hospitalizations. In all the state has lost 62 residents, whose death was COVID related.
