CONCORD - Two boat access area ramps will be closed for one day each next week to allow for the installation of seasonal docks.

The public boat access area serving Merrymeeting Lake in New Durham, will be closing for one day to install a floating dock at the boat ramp. The effort is scheduled for Monday, weather permitting, with a backup date of Tuesday.

During the installation, the ramp and parking area will be closed. There will be no opportunity to launch or retrieve motorized boats, sail boats, canoes, kayaks, or other self- propelled craft during this time period.

In Ossipee one lane of the double-ramp public boat access area serving Lake Ossipee via the Pine River off of Route 25 will also be closing for one day to install a floating dock. Access to launch and retrieve boats will be restricted to one lane of the ramp during the installation, which may result in delays. The effort is scheduled for Tuesday, weather permitting, with a backup day of Thursday.

The installations will go forward unless it is windy, unusually cold, or extended periods of heavy rain are forecast. Safe-work conditions will be determined by the weather.

New Hampshire's Public Boat Access Program is funded through boat registration fees and federal Wildlife and Sport Fish Restoration funds. Fish and Game's Facilities Construction and Lands Division acquires land for public water access sites, refurbishes existing sites, and builds new public boat access areas.
