Newport man arrested in Salisbury sex assault incident

NEWPORT - A Newport man was arrested on Saturday in an aggravated felonious sex assault said to have occurred in Salisbury.

The alleged assault was reported in February to State Police at the Troop D Barracks.

During the investigation an additional victim of sexual assault was identified, according to a state police press release sent out today.

Thomas Thibeault, 36, is currently being held on preventative detention at the Merrimack County Correctional Facility. He is charged with aggravated felonious sexual assault and Duty to Report.

He will be arraigned on Tuesday at Merrimack Superior Court.

Thibeault was currently out on bail from Merrimack County for six counts of aggravated felonious sexual assault and second degree assault-domestic violence-Strangulation for another case investigated by Troop D.
