ROCHESTER - Utility crews worked late into the night on Sunday repairing a Whitehall Road utility pole after a car crashed into it earlier in the day.

Rochester Police got the call around 11:30 a.m. and responded to the area of 114 Whitehall Road where they found that a 2004 Honda Accord driven by Timothy M. Yeaton, 17, of North Berwick, Maine, was traveling east when he veered off the road striking the pole, snapping it at the base.

Yeaton was transported to Frisbie Memorial Hospital with what were described as nonlife-threatening injuries.

Whitehall Road was closed Chamberlain Street and Salmon Falls Road until late Sunday night.

The accident remains under investigation.
