ROCHESTER - If you like your vacation time you'll love working for the city of Rochester.

On Tuesday the City Council voted to give municipal employees three weeks vacation after working full time for the city for just six months. After six years it goes up to four weeks.

Conversely most private employers offer a week of vacation time after a year of full-time employment.

City Councilor Steven Beaudoin cast the lone dissenting vote as the board voted 12-1 to approve the contract with the Rochester Municipal Employees Association.

The contract also enacts an 8 percent wage hike the first year and around 19 percent over the three-year pact.

City employees will also get 12 sick days, 2 personal days and three family sick days annually.
