MILTON - Andrew J. Leichtnam, 78, passed away on Sept. 13, 2103, after a courageous fight with mesothelioma. He was born in New Jersey on Oct. 14, 1934, to Florence and Andrew Leichtnam.

He grew up in Hackensack, N.J. In 1954, he joined the Marine Corp where he met his wife, Tommie. After he left the Maine Corp he worked at Davidson Rubber. Then he went to work at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in 1959, where he retired as a General Foreman from Shop 56 in 1989.

He liked fishing, hunting, and driving his “Little Blue Truck.” He took great pride in his truck and worked on it endlessly. He played cribbage anytime he could, and loved to tinker with just about anything. He was always there day or night to lend a helping hand for anyone that needed it. He took great care of his wife, Tommie and son Andy-Joe. He was an amazing Dad and Grampy.

Andy is survived by his wife, Tommie; his daughter Kim Dumont and her husband Michael, his son Andy Joe Leichtnam; his stepson, Richard Newell and his wife, Patricia; his step-daughter, Holly Cerprovicz and her husband, Robert; two granddaughters, one grandson and four great-grandsons; three brothers, Richard, Joseph, John and three sisters, Barbara, Catherine and Florence; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends and family may call from 10-11 a.m. on Friday, September 20, 2013 with a memorial service to start at 11 a.m. at Wiggin-Purdy-McCooey-Dion Funeral Home, 655 Central Ave., Dover, N.H. with Deacon Robert Gagnon, officiating.
