LEBANON - Charles E. Jenkins, 87, of Lebanon, passed away at his home on Friday July 26, 2013. 

He was born in Arlington, Mass., on Oct. 1, 1925, a son of the late Everett and Mu

riel (Freeman) Jenkins. A graduate of Belmont High School he then served his country during WWII as a Quarter Master aboard the USS Hancock in the South Pacific.

Following the war he attended and graduated from Northeastern University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. For many years he was employed by Simplex Wire & Cable Company in Cambridge. When the company opened a plant in North Berwick he transferred to Maine and worked for the company as a plant engineer.

When he retired along with his wife Helen they bought an RV and spent seven years traveling up and down the east coast from Canada to Florida. These were happy years for the both of them. Both devoted Christians, they passed these values on to their children. He was currently a member of the North Lebanon 2nd Baptist Church.

He is predeceased by his wife of 60 years, Helen (Woodward) Jenkins.

He is survived by two sons, Kenneth C. Jenkins and his wife, Linda of North Berwick, Leslie E. Jenkins and his wife, Linda of Uxbridge, Mass., six grandchildren, Jennifer, Karen, Matthew, Aaron, Nathan and Leah, and 10 great grandchildren.

Visiting hours will be on Wednesday from 6 to 8 at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Thursday at 10 a.m. at the North Lebanon 2nd Baptist Church. Burial with military honors will take place at 12:30 p.m. at Oakdale Cemetery in Sanford.
