BEDFORD, Mass. - Earl M. Lord, 87, a longtime resident of Milton and more recently of Westford, passed away Tuesday, May 7, 2013, at the Edith Nourse Rogers Memorial Veterans Hospital in Bedford, Mass., following a period of failing health.

Born Dec. 3, 1925, in Milton, N.H., he was a son of the late James and Ruth (Wentworth) Lord. He graduated from Nute High School in 1944 where he enjoyed playing on the baseball team. He later attended Massachusetts Radio and Telegraph School in Boston. Earl was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps, having served from 1946-1947, being stationed in Cuba for most of that time. He was employed by Raytheon as an electronics technician for 33 years, retiring in 1983.

Survivors include his wife, Elaine (Jacobs), with whom he would have celebrated 55 years of marriage in June. He is also survived by his daughter, Andrea and son-in-law Michael Carey of Westford, Mass.; daughter Cynthia and son-in-law John Bald of Brunswick, Maine; granddaughter Julia Bald of Allston; grandson Gregory Bald of Brunswick, Maine; grandsons Matthew and Eric Carey of Westford; brother Philip Lord of Waltham; cousins, a niece and nephews.

Earl was predeceased by his brother Richard Lord of Dover, N.H., and sister Ida Lord of Rochester, N.H.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 25, 2013, at 11 a.m. in the Old Cold Spring Cemetery in East Rochester, N.H. Arrangements are under the direction of the Lawler and Crosby Funeral Home in West Roxbury. To sign the online guest book go to www.lawlerfuneralhome.com.
