ROCHESTER - Joseph A. Bombay, 90, died Saturday, Aug. 24, 2013, at the Portsmouth Regional Hospital in Portsmouth, after a brief illness.

Joseph was born in Minersville, Pa. on Dec. 26, 1922, a son of John and Martha (Jones) Bombay and had been living in Rochester for the past 13 years, moving from Florida. He enjoyed sports and was an avid Phiilies and Eagles fan. He was predeceased by a daughter, Lois Fogarty.

Surviving members of the family include: his wife, Irene Bombay of Rochester, five daughters, Joan Wadsworth of South Hampton, Pa., Carol Zapf of Boynton Beach, Fla., Mary Ann Newkumet of South Hampton, Pa., Nancy Bombay of Mount Laurel, N.J. and Diane Gill of Maple Shade, N.J., two stepsons, Richard P. Breton of Strafford, and Mark A. Breton of Gonic. He also leaves a sister-in-law, Evelyn Bombay of Leesburg, Fla., 21 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, nine great-great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be held at the H. J. Grondin & Son Funeral Home, 177 North Main Street, Rochester, N.H. on Thursday, Aug. 29, from 9 to 10 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of the Holy rosary Church.
