ROCHESTER - Robina (pronounced Roe-bye-nuh) S. Meyer, formerly of Rosewood Manor, Gonic, and 15 Brock St., Rochester, passed away on Sept. 21, 2013, at Hyder Family Hospice House in Dover, N.H., after a period of failing health.

She was born the youngest of five children to Harry and Jennie (Tibbetts) Southard on May 30, 1922, in Bristol. "Pete", as she was fondly called by family and friends, graduated from Bristol High School in 1940 and the Washington School for Secretaries in Washington.in 1943. She married her first husband, Clarence A. Remick, in 1948, with whom she had two daughters. 

Robina had a long secretarial and accounting career working at such places as Calley & Currier Co. in Bristol, Jarvis Cutting Tools in Rochester, and finally retired in Oct. 1994 at age 72 from the Rochester Fire Dept. where she was known as "Fyr Myr". She enjoyed her Friday lunches with daughter Janice, the get-togethers at the Good Ole Sports, her many dogs over the years, crocheting, knitting, solving the daily Jumble, and always liked a good joke. "Pete" was well-known for her love of the color purple.

Robina is survived by her two daughters, Janice (Paul) Brown and Juanita (Paul) Moore, three grandchildren, Jeffrey (Anne) Brown, Tonya (Neal) Hastings, and Jacob (Jennifer Skoglund) Moore of New Durham, five great-grandchildren, a niece and a nephew.

"Pete" was predeceased by her second husband, Robert E. Meyer, her parents, Harry and Jennie Southard, her brothers, Roger and Aaron Southard, her sisters, Ellen Jewell and Esther Zoll, and a niece, Rita Jewell.

 

 

ARRANGEMENTS

A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, September 26, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Peaslee Funeral Home, 24 Central Street, Farmington, N.H. with Rev. Wayne Nelson, officiating. A calling hour is before the service from 10-11 a.m. Interment will be private at Homeland Cemetery in Bristol, N.H.
