One dead, firefighter injured in Manchester apartment house blaze

MANCHESTER - A Saturday blaze at a Manchester apartment building claimed the life of one, while injuring two others including a firefighter.

Manchester Police and Fire responded to the fire at 10 Dutton St. around 6:10 p.m. to find the building "heavily involved."

After it was extinguished, a deceased victim was located on the second floor back porch of the structure. Another individual was transported to the hospital for medical treatment.

A Manchester firefighter battling the blaze sustained injuries and was also transported to the hospital for treatment.

Positive identification of the victim and cause and manner of death are pending an autopsy that will take place at the State Medical Examiner's Office on Monday.

The investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing by members of the State Fire Marshal's Office and the Manchester Fire and Police Departments.
