MILTON - A Barrington man is dead and a Sanbornville man is injured after their vehicles collided head-on early today.

The crash occurred in Milton between Exits 16 and 17 around 4:15 a.m.

When State Troopers arrived a brief investigation revealed that a 2003 GMC Yukon operated by Michael Jones, 52, of Barrington, was traveling northbound when it drifted left into the path of an oncoming Nissan Titan Nissan Titan being operated by Leland Robbins, 37, of Sanbornville

As a result of this crash, Jones sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Robbins sustained what were described as serious but nonlife-threatening injuries and was transported to Portsmouth Regional Hospital.

Due to the size and significance of the accident scene, Route 16 was required to be closed in both directions for about 3½ hours.

Assisting troopers at the scene were members of the Milton Police Department, Milton Fire Department, State of New Hampshire Department of Transportation and the State of New Hampshire Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

Anyone with information pertaining to this incident is asked to contact Trooper Nathan Sleight, of the New Hampshire State Police, Troop-A Barracks, at (603)223-8490 or at Nathan.Sleight@dos.nh.gov.
