One killed, two injured in head-on collision on Rt. 16 in Ossipee

OSSIPEE - One motorist was killed and two others wounded in a head-on crash on Route 16 Tuesday morning.

The two-vehicle crash occurred around 11 a.m. in the area of Pine River Pond Road in Ossipee when police say a vehicle headed northbound crossed the centerline, striking a southbound vehicle.

The operator of the southbound vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene while their passenger from the southbound was taken to a local hospital for treatment and evaluation of injuries. The driver of the northbound vehicle was also transported to a local hospital for treatment and evaluation of injuries.

The affected portion of the highway was shut down completely for several hours, while traffic was rerouted.

New Hampshire State Police was assisted on scene by the Ossipee Police Department, Carroll County Sheriff's Office, Center Ossipee Fire Department, Ossipee Corner Fire Department, Wakefield Ambulance, Wakefield Fire Department, and the New Hampshire Department of Transportation.
