DOVER - The Children's Museum of New Hampshire may have its doors closed during the pandemic, but luckily nature is still open and ready for exploration!

"Earth Day is of course normally celebrated every year on April 22," shared Jane Bard, CMNH President. "But because we are all learning how to play together while apart, we thought we'd spread out the fun and discovery throughout the week."

Thanks to the museum's loyal Earth Day sponsor, D.F. Richard Energy, CMNH staff have been able to focus on creating videos with "Earthy" themes to share with its audience. "All our regular weekly videos like Wee Ones Wednesdays, Tinker Time Tuesdays, and First Friends Fridays are all Earth themed," shared Bard.

Wee Ones educator Xanthi Gray shows kids how to start growing pea seeds indoors. Tinker Time educator Meredith Brustlin encourages families to raid their household recycle bins to repurpose and upcycle materials into fun sorting, building, sensory or art projects for any age. "Art and creativity are always great ways for kids to explore their world," said Bard "So we've added a short video on how to make simple paper beads to turn into Earth Day necklaces."

As the week goes on, more activities and videos will be revealed on the museum's Facebook page, as well as on their YouTube "Earth Day" playlist "We're all adjusting to this new way of living," said Bard. "We are still here, working hard to support parents and caregivers and all those kids that we miss seeing so much. We know we'll get through this and see you all soon. And in the meantime, go explore new ways to be kind to our Earth!"
