Organizers gear up for Wing and Wheels extravaganza

ROCHESTER - Organizers continue to put the finishing touches on this year's Wings and Wheels event scheduled for June 2 at Skyhaven Airport in Rochester.

The event, which features vintage cars and aircraft as well as plane and helicopter rides and other fun activities, is hosted by the Rochester Police Department.

Attendees will have the opportunity to vote for their favorites in the Car, Motorcycle and Aircraft Show, which showcases hundreds of vintage and custom vehicles and aircrafts that families can see up close.

Wings and Wheels will also feature a buffalo wing eating contest - with the winner earning a free helicopter ride - as well as skateboard demonstrations, skateboard painting, crafts, games and raffles.

"This event is something we look forward to every year, and we're excited to invite members of the community for a day of fun activities that help support a good cause," Rochester Police Chief Paul Toussaint said.

While there is no cost of admission, attendees are encouraged to make a donation that will benefit local Rochester non-profit organizations and programs like SHARE Fund, FeastBox, Howie's Field of Dreams and many more.

"Rochester Rotary is proud to be a part of this fun family event," said Rochester Rotary member and event Co-Chair Jenn Marsh. "It is a great way to bring the community together in a unique and special way that's enjoyable for people of all ages."

The event will also bring together multiple food trucks and community vendors along with entertainment from Matt Gelinas, Sole City Dance, the BJ Hickman Family Magic Show, McDonough Grimes Irish Dance and musicians The Toes.

The event is sponsored by Rochester Rotary Charities, Pease Development Authority, Waste Management and Bernier Insurance.
