Ossipee, Bristol drownings mar late summer Saturday

Two drownings occurred across New Hampshire on Saturday including one in Ossipee.

Around 3:50 p.m. New Hampshire State Police dispatch received a call regarding an adult male kayaker who was found unresponsive in the water on Conner Pond in Ossipee.

The victim was brought to shore and CPR was performed, but he was pronounced deceased.

The victim's name is being withheld pending notification of family. Anyone who witnessed the incident is encouraged to contact New Hampshire State Police - Marine Patrol Lieutenant Crystal McLain at Crystal.H.McLain@dos.nh.gov or (603) 227-2113.

In Bristol, State Police dispatch received a call around 12:40 p.m. for a possible drowning at Profile Falls.

Witnesses told police a male subject was swimming in the falls and went under water but was located shortly thereafter and brought to shore by friends and fellow swimmers, which included an off duty nurse. Once at shore, CPR was started, but he pronounced dead around 1 p.m.
