MEREDITH - A paddleboarder from New York was injured on Monday when she was struck by a pontoon boat attempting to dock.

The incident occurred around 2 p.m. when NHSP - Troop E received a call on a boating mishap off of Church Landing on Lake Winnipesaukee in Meredith.

During an initial investigation, Marine Patrol officers leaned that the pontoon boat, operated by Karalyn Remillard, 51 of Franklin, Mass., was attempting to dock the vessel, and while maneuvering, struck a 51-year old female from Chappaqua, N.Y., who was on a paddleboard.

After the collision, people aboard the pontoon boat rendered assistance, helping the paddle boarder out of the water and to the shoreline. The victim was transported to Concord Hospital for evaluation.

The crash is under investigation. Impairment does not appear to be a factor at this time. Anyone who has further information related to this accident or who witnessed it is encouraged to contact Sgt. Nicholas Haroutunian 603-227-2112 or by email at Nicholas.M.Haroutunian@dos.nh.gov.
