SPRINGVALE, Maine - Two Mainers were arrested in a strong-arm robbery at a Springvale convenience store on Tuesday.

Police responded to the incident at the 7-Eleven on Main Street around 8:20 a.m. after a holdup alarm sounded at a regional dispatch center.

Officers responded to the scene where they learned that a male had entered the store and struggled with the clerk when they opened the register to make change for his purchase. The suspect then fled with an undetermined amount of cash and got in to a getaway car, police said.

The clerk was able to provide a license plate to the police and a description of the suspect and female driver.

Not long after a Maine State Police Trooper, who was aware of the incident in Sanford, located the suspect vehicle at the Kennebunk Service Plaza (southbound).

Gage Gagne, 23, of Sanford, and Abigail Davis, 21, of Kennebunk, were detained based on a request from Sanford Police.

Both Gagne and Davis were subsequently arrested by Sanford Police and booked on charges of robbery, a Class A felony.

Bail was set at $5,000 for Davis and $10,000 for Gagne. Both were transported to the York County Jail pending their arraignments in York County Superior Court in Alfred.
