LINCOLN, Maine - A pair from Danforth have been arrested in a May crash that took the life of one motorcyclist and injured another.

Rian Moore, 35, and Mikayla Lowell, 28, were arrested in Lincoln on Friday.

The arrests come in the wake of an intensive investigation into the May 29 crash that killed 50-year-old Don Charette of Frenchville.

Moore was charged with manslaughter, a Class A felony, driving to endanger, and leaving the scene of an accident causing bodily injury or death (both Class C).

Lowell was charged with hindering apprehension or prosecution (Class B) and tampering with a witness or informant (Class C).

Both are being held at the Washington County Jail.

State Police responded to the crash on Springfield Road in T8 R4 near Danforth around 2:45 p.m. where they learned that the driver of a 2003 Ford Explorer was heading south when the driver crossed the center line and struck two motorcycles, a 2009 Harley Davidson Street Glide driven by Charette and a 2012 Harley Davidson Street Glide driven by 30-year-old Jesse Ouellette of St Agatha.

Charette and Ouellette were transported to a local hospital where Charette died. Ouellette suffered nonlife-threatening injuries.

The Ford Explorer, which is registered to Moore, fled the scene, police say.
