MILTON - Patricia M. Mayo, 81, died on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at Hyder House after a period of failing health.
She was born April 28, 1937 in Sanford, Maine, to Raymond and Jeanette (Savoie) Desmarais.
Moving to Rochester at an early age, she attended Rochester Schools. In the 1950s she worked at her family's Desmarais' Fish and Chip Restaurant, until her parents retired and the restaurant closed in 1977. She worked for several years as a "lunch lady" in the Rochester School System and then as a secretary in the Code Enforcement Office for the City of Rochester until retiring in the early 1990s and becoming her mother's caregiver.
Anyone who knows her would say Patricia was "one of a kind." She had a great sense of humor and loved laughing, cooking, going out to eat, playing bingo, and enjoyed trips with the Rochester Area Seniors, where she had been president.
Family includes her son Michael Mayo and wife Susan; daughter Nancy Kane and husband Tom; son Joe Mayo and wife Paula; sister Carol Jenkins and husband Bruce; sister-in-laws Nancy Desmarais and Lillian Chick; six grandchildren, Michael Mayo Jr. and wife Amy, Steven Kane and wife Angie, Amanda Kane, Megan and Travis Mayo, Brittany Jean and husband Michael; great grandchildren Zach, Ryan, Emily, Navaya, Emma, and Logan; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She is predeceased by her husband of 58 years Adolph "Joe" Mayo and brother Robert Desmarais.
