ROCHESTER - Penelope Sue Randall of Rochester was called home by our heavenly father June 8, 2022, at the age of 82.

She was born Joan Shirley Varney on September 4, 1939 in Somersworth, daughter of Harry Lester Varney and Marie Annette St. Laurent. She grew up in Somersworth and graduated from Somersworth High School in 1958.

Penelope married and moved to Madbury in 1963, she had a daughter, Caroline Jane Desjardin. Penelope formed lasting friendships from selling eggs produced on the family farm. She also worked as an independent consultant selling Avon, and other home party products. But the job she enjoyed most was working for UNH at Huddleston Dining Hall. Penelope re-married in 2000 to Stanley Randall, and they resided on his family's farm in North Berwick, Maine. She moved to Rochester in 2015.

Penelope followed the word of the Lord and worked to spread His message of hope by loyally writing letters of encouragement to members of the community for over 50 years. She was an active member of her church and spent her formidable years teaching her granddaughters how to bake and enjoy Rodgers and Hammerstein musicals. As a true New Englander, she enjoyed lobster and haddock, along with coffee ice cream even though she never drank coffee.

She lived each day with optimism and faith.

Penelope was predeceased by her parents; brother, Lester Varney, sister, Sandra Varney; and husband, Stanley.

She is survived by her daughter and husband, Caroline and Ron Morrill of Rochester; granddaughters and spouses, Michelle and Drew Mastrobattista of Dover, Christina Pangelinan and Nick Richardson of Rochester, Stephanie and David Kelley Jr. of Rochester, several great-grandchildren; and her brother Alan Varney of Biddeford Maine.
