LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Peter Joseph Urcuioli, 70, of Lafayette died on Sunday, November 27, 2022, at IU Health Hospital.

Peter was born June 20, 1952, in Rochester, N.H., to the late Carmen and Clelia (Regis) Urcuioli. He obtained a Ph.D. and Master's degree in Psychology from Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, after pursuing his Bachelor's from the University of New Hampshire.

Since 1981, Peter was an accomplished professor of psychological sciences, serving on the faculty at Purdue University. His work focused on animal learning and memory until his retirement in 2019.

Surviving are his children: Nicholas (Katie) Urcuioli of West Lafayette and Bettina Urcuioli (Benjamin Appleby) of Milton, Mass., sisters Nancy Urcuioli of Ludlow, Mass., and Elaine Wescott of Billerica, Mass.; and four grandchildren: Peter Roland (age 10), Audrey Clare (8), Addison Marie (3) and Jackson Marcus (6 months).

Peter dearly loved his children and took great pleasure in welcoming his grandchildren into the world and spending time with each of them. He enjoyed many happy moments with his family before his passing. He loved attending the Indy 500 annually, regularly dining with friends and colleagues, and planning travel adventures.
