Philbrick powers way to win in selectman race

LEBANON - Paul Philbrick won a resounding victory on Tuesday in his first run at elective office, garnering almost 40 percent of the vote in a five-way race to fill the interim selectman’s seat vacated by former selectman Jason Cole who resigned at the end of last year.

Philbrick was followed in the voting by Richard “Chip” Harlow with 147, Royce Heath with 107, Robie Marsters with 68 and Corinna Cole with 55.

A total of 617 votes were cast, including 122 absentee ballots, Town Clerk Laura Bragg said last night.

Philbrick, whose term will run until June 2015, has lived in Lebanon for 55 years. He graduated from Noble High School, is married and has two grown children.

A retired Portsmouth Naval Shipyard worker, he has said that if elected he would strive to control the cost of living in Lebanon so that homeowners are able to keep their homes and make himself available to residents to hear any questions or concerns they had about the town.

He lives on Carl Broggi Highway.
