ROCHESTER - Phyllis (Phyll) Irene (Wheeler) Griffin, 84, resident of Wellsweep Acres, Rochester N.H. After a courageous battle with cancer, Phyllis passed away peacefully at the Rochester Manor on October 8, 2016.
Phyllis was one of nine children born to the late Arthur and Christine Wheeler in Lexington Mass., on June 19, 1932. She was the beloved wife of the late U.S. Army veteran Roland (Slim) Griffin. She is survived by her sons, David Griffin, John Griffin, her daughter, Amy Tremblay, and her four grandchildren, Ty, Mike, Brock, and Lauretta. She is also survived by her brother, Wesley Wheeler, and two sisters, Barbara Potter, and Marjorie Stiles. She is predeceased by brothers, Charles, Edwin, Richard, Harold, and Raymond Wheeler.
Phyllis graduated from Dover High School. She has been a longtime resident of Rochester. She dedicated many years of employment with Thompson Center Arms and John Hancock Insurance Company. She has been a member of True Memorial Baptist Church since 1968. She enjoyed prayer group, bible study, and sharing the devotion with others. Most recently, she served as a senior companion visitor for The Cornerstone VNA. She was involved in many activities when a resident of Terra Estates and she delighted in being a member of the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed cooking, camping, and cake decorating. Phyllis cherished her family, spending time with friends, and helping others.
Phyllis touched the lives of many people with her sociable approach, friendly smile, and love for others.
