ROCHESTER - When you are out enjoying the spring weather why not stop by the Library for a browsing appointment and grab a few books to inspire your do it yourself projects? We have a lots of gardening books and home improvement titles to get you started.

Expanded Hours

We are aware that as more people go back to work and school, there is a need for us to expand our Pick-Up and 45-minute Browsing hours for your convenience. Our new hours are:

Monday and Wednesday: 10:00 -12:00 and 1:00-7:00

Tuesday, Thursday and Friday: 10:00 -12:00 and 1:00-5:00

Saturday: 9:00 -12:00 and 1:00-4:00

Please wear your mask to keep everyone safe.

Walk-In Appointments Welcome

Sometimes you just need to grab something to read, watch or listen to and happen to be near the Library but forgot to make a browsing appointment. Don't let that stop you! Just drop by the Greeter's Station and we'll see how we can accommodate you.

Tired of Streaming Fees?

It seems like everything is moving towards separate streaming fees. If you're tired of cable costs and service charges for Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu, Disney+ and Acorn, then come to the Library, and enjoy a lot of what's offered on those channels for free! You just need a library card. We have a wide variety of BBC and other TV series available, as well as Disney movies, Hallmark movies and series, documentaries, independent and foreign films, sci-fi and horror. Have your own home film festivals! Explore new genres. Need a recommendation? Just ask! We are happy to help!

Nonfiction Challenge

If you enjoy a challenge, we have one for you! The Rochester Public Library's nonfiction reading challenge was created to encourage patrons to step out of their normal reading realms and venture out of their comfort zones. To narrow down the choices, there are six categories to choose from: Astronomy/space, Finances, True crime, Self help, Gardening, and Cooking/food. The more books you read, the more chances you will have to win a prize! Check out our Main Floor display showcasing some books from the subject list for you to try. Overdrive - Big Library Read

The Rochester Public library is helping readers embrace humor to reduce stress together during the next Big Library Read, the world's largest digital book club. From April 5-19, readers can learn stress-managing techniques from psychologist and stand-up comedian Brian King's The Art of Taking It Easy ebook from their public library. Rochester Public Library card holders can borrow the ebook by visiting or downloading the Libby app. Readers can then discuss online at


SYNC for Teens: Teens who enjoy reading audiobooks will have the ability to download, read and keep a number of titles over the summer through a teen program called SYNC. Sign ups start in late April. Go to this website for all the details:

Children's Room

Bridging the Remote Learning Gap:

We are continuing to offer these project-based activity packages, available each month through June. Geared towards school age children, the packages include a "how-to" video for children, a "how to help" video for adults, written instructions, and most of the supplies needed. Some items, such as scissors, staplers, or glue, are not included. Fifty activity kits will be available each month. Families wishing to participate can call the Children's Room at 335-7549 to subscribe to the program. Please go to our website for further information, or give us a call!

Visiting Appointments

Make an appointment to visit the Library to browse the shelves, read the newspapers or use a computer. Call 332-1428 extension 2 to set up an appointment.

RPL-To-Go is available for anyone uncomfortable choosing books in person. You can request books, DVDs, music CDs, audiobooks and even magazines. Just place items on hold in our catalog, call 603-332-1428 ext. 2, or email us at with your requests.
