ROCHESTER - Police say a Rochester man left the scene of a three-car crash near TD Bank on Old Dover Road only to hit another vehicle, a box truck, just a few moments later near the Public Works facility on Old Dover Road on Wednesday evening.

Police responded to the second crash around 7:50 p.m. in the area of the Rt. 16 off ramp where it had been reported that a pickup truck had struck a box truck parked in front of a residence just moments after the pickup had been involved in a hit-and-run involving two other vehicles near TD Bank at Merchants Plaza.

When Police arrived they found a Toyota Tacoma, driven by Thomas Stevens Jr., 63, of Rochester, and a Chevy G30 box truck, both heavily damaged.

Stevens was transported to Frisbie Memorial Hospital for what were described as nonlife threatening injuries.

Police also learned the Tacoma driven by Stevens had just struck two other vehicles that were making a left turn onto Old Dover Road from Columbus Avenue. The Tacoma struck a Dodge Caliber, driven by Joshua Holden, 18, of Alton, from behind, pushing the Dodge into the rear of a Hyundai Elantra, driven by Richard Hyde, 55, of Pittsfield, resulting in minor damage to both vehicles. Neither Holden nor Hyde was injured as a result of the accident and their vehicles were driven from the scene.

Police later arrested Stevens for Driving Under the Influence and two counts of conduct after an accident, all misdemeanors.

Stevens was released on personal recognizance with an arraignment date later this month in Rochester District Court.
