ROCHESTER - Police continue to probe the circumstances surrounding a missing Middleton girl’s disappearance and subsequent discovery inside a Rochester motel room just hours later early Sunday morning.

Although Rochester Police were for the most part tight-lipped about the case, it was disclosed on Tuesday that the 16-year-old girl checked into the hotel with a 26-year-old male late Saturday night.

Rochester Police Capt. Paul Toussaint said the case is still under investigation as police try to sort through “what went on at the motel and prior to going to the motel.”

The age of consent in New Hampshire is 16, but if an individual has authority or position in connection with a possible victim, that would also be taken into consideration criminally, Toussaint said.

He did stress that the 26-year-old male is neither a suspect nor person of interest in the case at this time. He would not disclose the male’s hometown as he is not a suspect.

The girl early Sunday was transported to Frisbie Memorial Hospital for evaluation purposes, which is standard procedure in these types of cases, a Middleton Press Release indicated. She was released in good condition on Sunday and has since been reunited with her family.

Rochester Police were assisted in the missing persons investigation by the FBI and State Police.

Middleton Police initially responded to the report of a possible abduction around 8 p.m. on Saturday.

Police from Farmington and Milton provided investigative assistance.
Around 10:45 p.m. a press release was issued in regards to a Missing Juvenile and based on information received from the public and investigative resources, the girl was located around 1:30 a.m. on Sunday.
