ROCHESTER - Two city men were arrested on Friday after a couple fell victim in string of events in which they apparently were stolen from and robbed the same night.

Police first got involved in the bizarre incident when they were flagged down by the couple while at Cumberland Farms on Knight Street.

Officers say the male and female had been victims of an earlier theft of money by an acquaintance, and in an attempt to get back their money they met with an unknown male who had the victims drive to a residence on King Street where they parked.

While in the driveway of the residence the unknown male allegedly pulled a knife holding it to the male's neck demanding he hand over his wallet, police say. After taking the wallet the suspect ran from the vehicle.

It was at this point the victims found police to report the crime.

A Rochester Police Department K9 unit then conducted a track from the King Street location to a residence at 17 Winter St.

Police eventually made contact with three individuals who were in the building.

A subsequent search warrant was completed on the residence to locate potential items of evidence. As a result of interviews conducted by Rochester Police Detectives, police took two males into custody in relation to the case.

Michael Elliott, 23, of 17 Winter St., Apt. 2 and Tyler Webber, 24, of 34 Lafayette St., Apt. 1, were both charged in the incident.

Elliott was charged felony armed robbery, while Webber was charged with theft by deception, a Class B misdemeanor; felony conspiracy to commit robbery and felony falsifying physical evidence.

Both Elliott and Webber refused bail and were transported to Strafford County Jail where they are being held until their Monday arraignments at the Rochester District Court.
