YORK, Msine = The suspect in a York domestic violence case is thought to have killed himself following a Thursday standoff at their York home.

York Police got involved on Thursday around 9:25 p.m. as they responded to a residence on Sewall's Pasture Road for a domestic disturbance where the suspect had allegedly assaulted the victim and locked her out of the residence. A juvenile child held in the residence with the suspect was able to be removed by officers, who also attempted to apprehend the suspect. Those attempts were stopped due to safety concerns.

Later on Friday officers returned to the residence to try and apprehend the suspect. Assisting on scene were the Southern Maine Special Response Team, the York County EMA Drone Team and the York County Crisis Negotiation Response Team.

Ultimately the suspect was found deceased inside the residence. Their identity is being withheld pending family notification.
