WEST LEBANON - Police are urging Lebanon residents to make sure their cars are locked at night after a pair of vehicles were broken into early this morning in the Prospect Hill area of town.

According to Maine State Police Trooper Adam Schmidt, who is investigating the case, one car was broken into near the intersection of Homestead Way and Prospect Hill Road, while the other break-in was on Sam Wentworth Road.

Both cars were unlocked, Schmidt said, adding that oftentimes if the cars are locked, these incidents can be avoided.

He said money and CDs were taken from one vehicle, while money and a GPS were stolen from the other. Schmidt also urged people to remove valuables from their car when they retire for the night.

He said that along with making sure your residence is locked, locking your vehicle can go a long way toward reducing the number of these types of crimes.
