DOVER - Dover Police today are investigating the possible overdose death of a man that occurred on Wednesday in the Police Department's lobby.

The incident unfolded Tuesday night around 11:50 when police responded to a single motor vehicle crash on Locust Street. The operator and sole occupant of the vehicle, Andrew Larose, 37, of New Ipswich, was not injured in the crash, however his vehicle was towed.

Officers then provided Larose with a courtesy ride to the Dover Police Department, so he could arrange transportation home. During the morning hours of Wednesday a Dover Police Department employee discovered Larose unresponsive in the department's lobby, according to a release from Dover Police sent out on Wednesday. Officers responded and determined that Larose was deceased.

He was not in police custody at any point during the incident.

Detectives from the department's Special Investigations Unit in coordination with the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner conducted an investigation into Larose's death and determined it appears likely Larose ingested illegal narcotics in the public bathroom of the police station, leading to an accidental overdose.

An autopsy is scheduled for today to determine the exact cause of death.
