Two Springvale residents have been arrested in the case of a stolen handgun taken from a Lebanon residence back in July and hidden under a rock outside of a Springvale apartment for a period of time while one of the suspects sought to sell it on the street.

Todd Cushman, 28, and Kayla Keith, 28, both of Springvale, have been arrested in the case, both on charges of receiving stolen property (Firearm), a Class B felony.

Among items stolen in the burglary that occurred on Jim Grant Road was a Smith and Wesson M&P 9mm handgun, Trooper Adam Schmidt said today.

During the course of the investigation Schmidt learned that Cushman had pawned the stolen pistol at the York County Trading Co. in Sanford. The pistol was recovered and on Aug. 24 Cushman was located at a logging site in Shapleigh where he was taken into custody.

He was booked at York County Jail and bailed out on $310 bail.

Schmidt later learned that Cushman had received the pistol from Keith, who, herself, had been banned from the area pawn shops due to repeatedly pawning stolen items.

Keith's arrest came last Thursday when Schmidt located her off of Mill Street in Springvale where she was taken into custody without incident.

Schmidt said Keith admitted to having the gun and keeping it under a rock outside her apartment until she found someone to pawn it.

Other items stolen from the Jim Grant Road residence included a TV and a Blu-Ray player, which have not yet been recovered, Schmidt added.

Keith is currently being held at the York County Jail on $1,560 bail.
