Poll: N.H. drivers rank among most polite, Maine drivers just rank

A new survey says that New Hampshire drivers are among the most polite in the nation, while Maine drivers are among the most impolite.

The survey was conducted as part of a summer awareness campaign from Kars4Kids to promote better driving habits. New Hampshire was rated the 10^th most polite state in the country, with an overall grade of A-, and finished slightly behind Vermont which was 9^th.

Maine was ranked 45^th.

Idaho's drivers was ranked the most courteous, while New Yorker drivers were ranked the most discourteous.

Ironically New Hampshire drivers were most apt to say yes when asked "How often do you signal?" and "Would you steal someone's parking spot?"

The driving safely campaign is called Drive Human, with the goal of reminding drivers that they share the road with other people not faceless cars.

In addition to the survey, Kars4Kids partnered with Driver's Ed schools around the country to include in their curriculum a courteous driving guide that was created.

The survey was released on Thursday and was conducted under the sponsorship of Kars4Kids, which seeks donated cars to fund their philanthropic programs.

Kars4Kids is based in Lakewood, N.J., and Toronto, Canada.
