ROCHESTER - Waste Management's cancellation of bulk waste pickup for the month of January was caused by quarantine guidelines amid a crush of positive COVID cases, a corporate spokesman told The Rochester Voice on Monday.

Garrett Trierweller said they expect this will be a one-off and that bulk waste pickups will resume in February.

He said WM does not have a mandatory vaccine policy in place for employees.

The Omicron onslaught is likely the culprit here as the newest variant sweeping the country is thought to be more virulent , according to health experts. who agree it is far less dangerous. Many cases in fact are are asymptomatic.

While WM will not have January bulk pickups, bulk waste can still be brought to the residential dropoff site on Rochester Neck Road.
