ROCHESTER - Rachel R. (Fournier) Moreau, 88, died peacefully on Friday, March 31, 2017, at the Gafney Home in Rochester, N.H., where she had been a resident since 2015.
Rachel was born on April 29, 1928, in Somersworth, the daughter of Alexandre Fournier and Eva (Vanasse) Fournier. She graduated from St. Martin School in Somersworth. She married Raymond J. Moreau, Sr. of Dover in 1947 and they lived in Dover and Laconia most of their life together. Rachel and her husband were former owners of Busy Hill Market in Dover before retiring and moving to Rochester.
During her retirement, Rachel enjoyed working as a volunteer making quilts for The Missionary Servants of Pope John Paul I out of Gilford. She was an avid reader and enjoyed traveling. Her last big adventure was a cruise in the Caribbean with family and friends in 2015.
Rachel was a current communicant of St. Mary Church in Rochester.
Rachel was predeceased by her husband of 47 years, Raymond J. Moreau, Sr., who died on October 27, 1994. Rachel was predeceased by her siblings, Robert Fournier, Louis Fournier, Norman Fournier, Donald Fournier, Madeline Gagne and Pauline Bisson.
Rachel is survived by her four sons and four daughters, Rev. Raymond Moreau, Jr. of Brushton, N.Y., Robert Moreau of Rochester, N.H., Ronald Moreau of Wakefield, N.H., and Roland Moreau and his wife Diana of Middleton, N.H., JoAnn Rohde of Dover, N.H., Veronica Rudzinski of Weirs Beach, N.H., Marguerite Doucette and her husband Lester of Northfield, N.H., Mary Henry and her husband Matt of Rochester, N.H. She is survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren and her sister Lorraine Giguere of Rochester and sister-in-law Rollande Fortin of Dover.
