For the past two months, Maine DEA and officers of the Berwick Police Department conducted an investigation into illegal drug trafficking from a single-family residence at 19 Katabel Lane. The investigation began after numerous complaints and safety concerns were received from community members of suspected illegal drug trafficking and disturbances taking place at the residence.

Berwick Police have responded to the residence more than a dozen times since January 2023 for numerous disturbance-related complaints to include it being the scene of a suspected homicide that occurred in January 2023, according to a statement released today from the state's Department of Safety Public Information spokesperson Shannon Moss.

During the course of the investigation, agents were able to conduct multiple undercover purchases of fentanyl and methamphetamine from Geoffrey, White, Buckley and St Yves.

Around 6:30 a.m. today the Maine State Police Tactical Team assisted the agencies by making the initial entry and securing a residence safe for agents to conduct a search. Upon arrival officers observed several items being thrown from a window of the residence, later to be identified as pre-packaged fentanyl for resale. Eighteen people were located and detained without incident from within the residence.

A search of the residence resulted in the seizure of over 140 grams of fentanyl, 10 grams of methamphetamine, digital scales, and other evidence indicative of illegal drug trafficking.

The approximate value of the seized drugs is $15,000.

The arrestees were transported to the York County Jail by Berwick Police. Individuals who did not face criminal charges were released at the scene.

The investigation is ongoing and additional arrests are expected.

Anyone who has information about this investigation is urged to contact the nearest Maine Drug Enforcement or by texting MDEA to TIP411 (847411) or by calling the MDEA tip-line at 1-800-452-6457.
