ROCHESTER - Raymond C. Chasse, 83, of Rochester, died Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at Frisbie Memorial Hospital following a period of declining health. He was surrounded by loving family. He was born in Rochester on March 11, 1935, the son of Gerard and Edwina (Lambert) Chasse.
Ray was raised in Somersworth, where he attended St. Martin Academy and Somersworth High School, Class of 1953. Ray held a variety of jobs throughout his life, but he would be the first to tell you that the one that changed his life was working for Deschenes' Market, where he met and later married the love of his life, Dorene. He was also well known for driving the Cushman Bakery truck and worked as a foreman at Davidson Rubber for many years.
Ray proudly served in the Navy on the USS Robert H. McCard during the Korean War, from 1952-1960. He was a lifetime member of the Catholic War Veterans, a past member of the American Legion and a former Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus.
Ray's life was his family and his greatest joy was spending time with them. He was well known for his sense of humor and for being a prankster. He will be deeply missed but is now reunited with his beloved Dorene.
Ray is survived by his four children, Michelle Molzen and her husband, Tim, of Williamsville, N.Y., Andy Chasse and his wife, Shannon, of Alton Bay, Nicki Smith and her husband, Rodney, of Punta Gorda, Fla., and Tina Goulet and her husband, Bob, of Rochester; 12 grandchildren, Jen, Joe, Casey, Jordan, Kyle, Emily, Michael, Beth, Drew, Bekah, Isabelle and Gabrielle; 5 great-grandchildren, Jayde, Jaxon, Ruby, Jemma and William; and his loving companion Lena Berg.
He was predeceased by his wife, Dorene; sons Marc and Norman; grandson Jonathan; great-granddaughter Kassidy; great-grandson Carter.
