DOVER - Raymond H. Carignan, 86, died on Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at his home following a period of failing health.
Born March 25, 1931 in Springvale, Maine, Ray was the son of the late Henry and Eva (Thyng) Carignan. He graduated from Sanford HS in 1949 and received a BA in Chemistry from Boston University in 1953.
Ray served in the Army and was married to Trudy LeBrun on May 7, 1955. He was honorably discharged and joined the Public Service Co. of N.H. as an intern chemical engineer in 1955. Ray subsequently served as corporate supervisor of chemical operations and retired as Production Administrator in 1991 after 35 years of service.
Ray played saxophone in big bands during his early career, and he enjoyed woodworking and tennis.
He is survived by his wife Trudy (LeBrun) Carignan of Dover; his children Leslie Strayer and husband Jeffrey of Barrington,; Craig Carignan of College Park, Md.; Douglas Carignan and wife Sue of Laconia, and Neil Carignan of Rochester; his grandchildren Kendra, Joshua, Rachel, Kayla, Zachary, and Corban, and one great grandchild Jaiden.

He was predeceased by his sister Laura Carignan.
