Reason to hope! DV shooting victim condition upgraded to fair

ROCHESTER - For the first time since she was seriously injured more than two weeks ago there's reason to hope that the Rochester victim of a domestic violence shooting appears to be on the mend.

Portsmouth Regional Hospital spokesperson Lynn Robbins said today that Kristine Halsey, 45, is in fair condition. She had been listed in critical since she was shot by her husband who later turned the gun on himself. Brian Halsey, 47, died at the scene.

Police have said the incident was an apparent domestic violence shooting and suicide that occurred around 6:40 a.m. on Dec. 18.

Rochester Police first responded to 2 Sunrise Drive after a woman called 911 and said she had been shot by her husband who then committed suicide, according to a police statement.

Kristine Halsey's fair condition is two above critical and just one below good.

Rochester Police say the couple's three children are staying with family out of town.
