MILTON - A small group of family and friends gathered on Monday afternoon at the site of where a young Farmington man died on Saturday after his motorcycle crashed into the woods on Route 75 just east of Governor’s Road.

Ryan Canney, 20, a 2012 Sanford High School graduate, was headed toward Farmington around 4:40 p.m. after leaving friends at a nearby restaurant and headed home when the accident occurred on a slight curve in the road.

Relatives speculated he may have been blinded by the sun, but no one knows for sure, they said, only that Ryan Canney was a kind and good man and far too young to die.

Police have not released an official cause on what led to the 2007 Kawasaki motorcycle leaving the roadway.

According to his obituary published in The Lebanon Voice on Monday, Canney formerly resided in Acton and was a “kind, generous, compassionate, young man who often put other's needs ahead of himself.”

He also enjoyed NASCAR, hunting, fishing, and hanging out with his brother, friends and family.

A celebration of his life will be held at Peaslee Funeral Home, 24 Central St. in Farmington, N.H., on Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2013, at 10 a.m. Burial will be at Forest Grove Cemetery in Lebanon, Maine. Following interment, a gathering will be held at Town Line Pizzeria and Bakery on Milton Road in Rochester.
