ROCHESTER - Richard Rainville, of Rochester, died unexpectedly Friday, November 9, 2018, at the age of 53; the son of Richard Rainville and Joanne Lefebvre Rivers.
Rick graduated from St. Thomas Aquinas High School and Colby College in Maine. He was Phi Beta Kappa and Sigma Delta Pi. He tutored students in various level Spanish courses. He studied at the Universidad de Salamanca in Spain. He received his Master's Degree from Cornell University.
He served as Eucharistic Minister and taught religion classes to prepare people for sacraments. He volunteered at Gerry's Food Pantry.
Rick was a beloved St. Thomas Aquinas teacher and "the light of our campus" at Ithaca College where he was greatly loved by all. Rick also taught at the Ross School in New York and Hobart & William Smith College in Geneva, N.Y. He had a great passion for teaching, a tremendous sense of humor and eagerness to go the extra mile. His kindness and generosity knew no bounds. He loved family gatherings and being with friends, especially Gary to discuss current issues.
No son was ever so deeply loved. Predeceased by his father Richard Rainville and stepfather Ned Rivers. He leaves many special friends (you know who you are!) a special Aunt Juanita, cousins, nieces, nephews, and a wonderful extended family.
Thank you for a lifetime of beautiful memories and love my beautiful son. I love you SO MUCH Pooh Bear! - Mom.
