Road closures, traffic restrictions in place Saturday 5K in Dover

DOVER - Dover Police have announced several road closures during the running of the 10th annual Saint Mary Academy 5K event on Saturday.

The event begins at 9 a.m. on Church Street at the intersection of Academy Street. The course ends at the same location.

The following roads will be closed at points during the race:

· Church Street, from 8 to 11 a.m.

· Locust Street, between Silver Street and Kirkland Street, from 9:10 to 10 a.m.

· Locust Street, between Trakey Street and Central Avenue, from 9 to 9:30 a.m.

· Atkinson Street, from 9 to 10 a.m.

· Belknap Street, from 9 to 10 a.m.

· Fisher Street, from 9 to 10 a.m.

Motorists should anticipate additional brief closures or traffic delays in the downtown area between City Hall and Silver Street to accommodate the start of the race at 9 a.m. Drivers and residents will encounter delays on other streets along the course, including Rutland, Elm, Belknap, Trakey, Summer, and Nelson streets between 9 and 10 a.m.

The course includes a portion of Dover's Community Trail between Fisher and Folsom Streets.

Parking will be prohibited on Church Street on Saturday until 11 a.m. Event participants may park in the Orchard Street Parking Garage or any other downtown municipal lot. Metered parking is in effect on Saturdays.
