ROCHESTER - Robert "Bob" Desmarais, 70, of Loring Drive, died peacefully Monday, February 15, 2016, with his beloved wife by his side at Frisbie Memorial Hospital, following a courageous battle with lung cancer and pulmonary fibrosis.
Born December 3, 1945, in Sanford, Maine, he was the son of Raymond and Jeanette (Savoie) Desmarais, and remained a lifelong resident of Rochester. Bob was employed as a mechanic and tanker driver by Eastern Propane for 37 years until his retirement in 2007. Bob enjoyed bow hunting, furniture woodworking, restoring and driving his '77 Corvette, and visiting his kids, 13 grandchildren and great-grandchild. Most of all, Bob loved spending time and traveling with his true partner, companion and wife of 35 years.
Members of his family include his wife Nancy (Spancake) Desmarais of Rochester; his son, Robert "Bobby" Desmarais and his wife Jennifer of Lancaster Pa.; his daughter, Karen Desmarais of Rochester; Jeffrey Glidden and his wife Julia of Croton-On-Hudson, N.Y.; Kelly Dillion and her husband Jeffrey of Sanbornville, N.H.; Terri Banks and her husband Andrew of Sarasota, Fla.; his grandchildren Benjamin, Colin, and Maya Desmarais; Rachael, Caroline, Nicolette, Lucas, and Irina Glidden; Kayla and Victoria Dillion; Alec, Shelby, and Kamry Banks; a great grandson, Jack Hartsgrove; his sisters Patricia Mayo of Milton, N.H., and Carol Jenkins and her husband Bruce of East Rochester, N.H.
