STRATHAM - Robert "Bob" Shaw Ross, 86, devoted husband and father died Monday, January 23, 2017 in the loving care of his wife Lisa Ross. Born October 29, 1930 in Rochester, N.H., he was the son of the late William T. and Marion S (Shaw) Ross.
Bob lived many years in Rye Beach and presently resided in Stratham with his loving wife of 25 years. He was a graduate of Spaulding High School class of 1948. He was a successful self-employed entrepreneur who retired in 1991. He was a Civil War enthusiast who in the 1960s was acting chairman of the NH Civil War Centennial Commission.
One of Bob's biggest passions was playing tennis which he did weekly for over 40 years. As a young man, Bob was the head life guard for Hampton Beach, N.H., and for a period of time he was a professional diver at the Flamingo Club in Miami Beach, Fla. Through the years the beach proved to be where Bob felt most at home, as he and his wife Lisa traveled throughout the Caribbean finding great pleasure annually. When not traveling, Bob found his greatest enjoyment being with his wife Lisa at home in Stratham, either taking care of his pool or reading his massive collection of Civil War Books. Bob's love and sense of humor brought comfort to those around him up to the very end of his valiant fight to live.
Members of his family include his wife of 25 years Lisa S. Ross, Step daughter Rabiah Akar, Stepson John Akar, son Toby Ross and daughter Beth Ross Small. Bob is predeceased by his son Robert Todd Ross and Bob's brother Gilbert Ross.
