DOVER - Robert Alan Broadbent, 75, died on Feb, 26, 2022, at Hyder House in Dover after a long battle with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis.
Born December 14, 1946, to Joe and Betty Broadbent, he was raised in Rochester where he excelled in many sports from an early age through college. He graduated from Plymouth State College and in later years came back to teach Physical Education in his hometown till his retirement in 2007. He was an avid golfer, hunter, and fly fisherman and followed all of the Boston teams. The high point of his summers was going fishing with his wife, Carol, brother Richard, and sister-in-law Carole at Tall Timbers in Pittsburg. He also took time to enjoy his hobby of collecting tin toys and memorabilia.
When anyone mentions the name Bob Broadbent his smile and winning personality immediately come to mind. Bob had a great sense of humor which made him well liked by his students. He loved bringing people together at his home for the end-of -school parties.
Bob is survived by his wife, Carol, his daughter Alison Bruce and his son Christopher Broadbent of Atlanta, Ga., and daughter Christina Drake and husband Marc Mims of Fort Collins, Colo. Also he is survived by his grandson Matthew, his granddaughter, Kristen and husband, Jamie Turner of Atlanta, GA and great-grandson, Lucas. He is also survived by his brother Richard and his wife Carole Broadbent of Lebanon, Maine. He has one nephew Craig Broadbent and his wife Bethany and daughters Lauren and Sydney of Windham, Maine. He has two nieces Victoria (Broadbent) and her husband Peter and son Matthew Ingersoll of Lebanon, and Leslie Broadbent and her partner JD Fecteau and his sons Tanner and Tyler of Berwick, Maine.
