LEESBURG, FLa. - Robert J. Dorsey, 85, of Leesburg, died peacefully at his home surrounded by family on April 14, 2021.
Born in Akron Ohio, he was the son of the late Raymond and Gertrude Dorsey.
Bob served his country proudly, first enlisting in the Army serving 3 years, and then enlisting in the Air Force, where he retired in 1972.
Bob served in the Korean and Vietnam wars. He always talked about the places that he traveled during this period, but never about the war. He continued his service to his country as a civilian working as an outside machinist at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard where he retired in 1990.
Bob and his wife Shirley relocated to Florida, returning in the summer months to be with family.
Bob was a member of the American Legion Post 7, the VFW.
Preceded in death by his wife Anne Colby (Stetson) in 1978, Shirley C. (Massingham) in 2013, brothers Earl Brown, Gordon Dorsey Sr., and sister Norma Riffle.
Bob is survived by his daughters Jarlene (Dan) Hatfield, Norma Dorsey, Patricia Nicholas, Misty (Josh) Cutter.
His grandchildren Alex, Danielle, Joshua, Christine, Patrick, Riley, and Emily, and five great-grandchildren.
