ROCHESTER - Robert Emery Doucet, born January 10, 1937, died in Rochester on Friday, April 10, 2015.

The son of Eli and Lillian (Carrier) Doucet, he was born and raised in Berlin, graduating from Notre Dame High School in 1954. After graduating, he joined the Army Reserve and was accepted into the apprenticeship program at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. In 1956 he decided to join the regular army, and after basic training and special training in surveying, he was stationed at Fort Benning, Ga. In 1958 he returned to the shipyard to finish his apprenticeship in the machine shop. In 1959, he met the love of his life, Pauline Lorraine Fontaine, at his brother's wedding. He caught the garter, she caught the bouquet, and they were married the following May. In 1964 he became an engineering technician at the Navy Yard, where he worked until his retirement in 1995. Robert and Pauline moved to Rochester and raised four children, Lillian Wise of Concord, Norman of Allenstown, Paul of Mason, and Peter, who lives in North Carolina. Robert inherited a do-it-yourself aptitude from his father, working on many construction and mechanical projects at home. He also operated a small-engine repair business out of the garage he designed and built himself. He enjoyed being in the woods, especially hunting with his late brother Norman, camping and backpacking with his family, and walking with his wife and dog. He also enjoyed reading and discussing history.

He is survived by his wife and children, 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Also, his brother's widow, Jeannette Doucet, of Somersworth, and their three children: Richard, Melanie, Billy and their families.
