ROCHESTER, N.H. - Robert J. Garneau, 84, of Rochester, N.H., died on Friday, October 14, 2016, surrounded by his loved ones.
Born in Lyndonville, Vt., on October 5, 1932, to Adelard and Merilda (Croteau) Garneau. Robert served his country during the Korean War serving in the Army. He then spent many years working at the Portsmouth Navy Shipyard working on the railroad maintenance crew. Robert was also an active member of the American Legion Post 47 in Rollinsford, N.H.
Robert is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years Helen (Michaud) Garneau and their children, daughter, Theresa Breton and husband Michael of Florida; and son, Gary Garneau and wife Jamie of Portsmouth. Robert is also survived by his sister, Paulette Mitchell of Rollinsford, as well as four grandchildren, Bradford Berube and wife Kerri, Matthew Berube and wife Sarah, Jordan Garneau and wife Belle, and David Garneau and wife Lindsey; along with five great grandchildren, Cameron, Joshua, Max, Waylon, and Layla. Robert was predeceased by his brothers, Marcel, Paul, Gerard and Maurice (Pete); as well as two sisters, Anita Michaud and Marlene Lapanne.
