ROCHESTER - The Rochester man accused of stabbing another man on Thursday has a long history of violence and multiple arrests in New Hampshire and Maine.
Jeremy Brown, 51, of Rochester, was officially charged on Friday with three counts of first degree assault with a deadly weapon, a Class A felony punishable by up to 15 years in state prison.
The stabbing occurred around 11:15 p.m. in the area of Amazon Campground on Whitehouse Road drawing police and paramedics to the scene where they found the male victim suffering from a stab wound to the abdomen. He was transported to Portsmouth Regional Hospital with what were described as nonlife threatening injuries.
During an investigation it was learned that the two had gotten into an argument which led to the stabbing, according to Rochester Police.
Both parties were known to one another, police say, and Brown, who remained on scene, was ultimately arrested.
In November of 2017 Brown was charged with conduct after an accident, aggravated DWI and driving after revocation or suspension after he crashed into a parked car at Amazon Park and tried to leave the scene.
Police first learned of the crash when a caller reported that their parked vehicle had been struck and that when he looked out the window Brown's vehicle was backing out and preparing to leave the area. The caller said he went outside to talk to the driver and they appeared to be intoxicated.
When an officer arrived they conducted a field sobriety test and arrested Brown, then of 105 Whitehouse Road.
Brown was charged with conduct after an accident, aggravated DWI and driving after revocation or suspension.
In July of 2011 Brown allegedly tried to strangle a woman and threatened her with a hammer.
Brown was also alleged to have struck the woman on the side and back of the head.
Court records show Brown has had more than a dozen convictions in New Hampshire and Maine.
He was arraigned on the stabbing charges Friday and remains held at Strafford County Jail on a no-bail order, jail personnel said today.
All aspects of Thursday's incident remain under investigation. Anyone who may have information that may assist in the investigation is encouraged to contact the Rochester Police Department at (603) 330-7128.
